Forget the royal honeymoon rumors of an African safari, luxurious tropical escape to the Caribbean islands, or a lovenest in the Seychelles, it looks like there’s a new top contender for where the newly appointed Duke and Duchess of Sussex will enjoy their first vacation as husband and wife – Alberta, Canada!
Although Kensington Palace have yet to confirm Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will definitely honeymoon in Alberta, TMZ are reporting the newlyweds will stay at Alberta’s Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in the mountain resort’s 6,000 square foot Outlook Cabin, also known as “The Royal Retreat.”
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is no stranger to royalty. “The Royal Retreat” has housed both Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Phillip, in 2005 and also the Queen’s parents, King George VI and the Queen Mother in 1939.
Situated in Alberta’s gorgeous Jasper National Park, the sumptuous Outlook Cabin at Fairmont consists of six bedrooms, six en-suite bathrooms, and stunning views. According to Fairmont’s website, “The Royal Retreat” starts at $900 per night and vacationers at the lodge enjoy canoeing, hiking and abundant wildlife watching. Should the royal couple wish to enjoy a game of golf, the lodge is home to Canada’s number one golf resort course, but there is also the chance for a little pampering at the onsite spa, or indulging at the lodge’s renowned restaurant where they serve local and organic ingredients.
Although Canada may seem a surprising honeymoon choice for the Duke and Duchess, it’s a country Meghan adopted whilst living there for the filming of Suits.
