Alaska Airlines Launches Flight Subscription Service

Alaska Airlines is flying into unchartered territory by announcing a new subscription service for frequent fliers.

Named Flight Pass, the plan allows subscribers to lock in discounted prices for roundtrip flights on Alaska Airlines for certain routes within California, Nevada and Arizona.
Flight Pass offers two different plans, which allow subscribers to choose between 6, 12, or 24 flights per year. The Flight Pass tier (starting at $49 per month) is best for fliers who are able to plan ahead and allows travelers to book their flight up to 14 days before the flight departs or 90 days in advance. The Flight Pass Pro tier (starting at $199 per month) is for travelers who need more flexibility since it allows them to book their flight up to 2 hours before departure.

“Flight Pass is an annual subscription for roundtrip travel — you cannot use credits to book one-way travel,” Alaska Airlines noted. “Most flights are available to select for only $0.01 plus $14.60 in airport taxes and fees, but some of the most popular flights will require a higher fare to select. While all credits do expire, you do have flexibility if your plans change. If you need to cancel your trip prior to your credit expiring, the credit will be redeposited in your account so you may rebook.”

The Flight Pass subscription does not include applicable government taxes and airport fees on each flight.
