Alaska May Start Vaccinating Tourists at the Airport

The State of Alaska is toying with the idea of vaccinating tourists upon their arrival at various airports ahead of the busy summer season.

According to USA Today, Alaska’s state health department is floating the idea of offering a one-dose vaccine to interested travelers in a secure section of the airports in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, and Ketchikan.

The health department has reached out to interested contractors to provide staffing plans and estimates for what they think it would cost the state to implement such a program, USA Today reports.

Alaska’s busy summer and fishing season generally run from May through October. A state health official said if the program is adopted they hope to have the vaccine sites set up by late spring, pending increased allocations of the vaccine from the federal government.
