Having to head to the post office to mail your passport renewal could soon be a thing of the past thanks to an executive order signed by President Biden.
The order, which is meant to “improve customer experience and service delivery for the American people” addresses several travel changes for U.S. citizens.
According to a fact sheet from The White House, the new executive order will:
Allow Americans to “renew their passports securely online, saving time from having to wait and the effort and cost required to print, go to a post office, and use a paper check.”
Airport passengers heading through security and check-in lines can expect a shorter wait time thanks to better technology including “new security machines and computers with advanced screening features that streamline these processes.”
Additional channels of communication will allow for better and faster communication between the Transportation Security Administration and passengers with “urgent, time-sensitive questions or concerns.”
“The Government’s primary mission is to serve,” an update from The White House read. “By placing people at the center of everything we do, the Government will be able to deliver timely, modern, and secure services to you – the people. We will rebuild trust in our Government, ensure no one is left behind, and inspire others to join us in serving future generations of Americans.”
