CDC Extends No Sail Order for Cruise Ships Through September 30

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has extended their ‘No Sail’ order for all cruise ships operating in U.S. territory through at least the end of September.

According to The Hill, the CDC extended the no sail order first implemented in March until September 30 or until the order is specifically rescinded.

“On July 16, 2020, CDC extended the No Sail Order and Suspension of Further Embarkation; Notice of Modification and Extension and Other Measures Related to Operations signed by the CDC Director on April 9, 2020—subject to the modifications and additional stipulated conditions as set forth in this Order,” the CDC announced on their website. “The Order is effective upon signature and will be published in the Federal Register.”

According to the CDC’s new guidelines, the Order is in effect until one of the following occurs:

1. The expiration of the Secretary of Health and Human Services’ declaration that COVID-19 constitutes a public health emergency.
2. The CDC Director rescinds or modifies the order based on specific public health or other conditions, or,
3. September 30, 2020.
