Just as the Bahamas prepares to welcome back the cruise industry in time for the summer season, the CDC has issued a warning to Americans to “avoid all travel” to the island nation.

Raising its warning to a Level 4 due to “very high levels of COVID-19,” the CDC issued the following statement on its website:

“Because of the current situation in the Bahamas even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants and should avoid all travel to the Bahamas.”

“If you must travel to the Bahamas, get fully vaccinated before travel,” the CDC urged. “All travelers should wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds and wash their hands.”

“In light of those risks, the Department of State strongly recommends U.S. citizens reconsider all travel abroad,” the State Department said.
