Celebrity Drops Proof of Vaccine for Florida Cruises

Cruisers sailing aboard any Celebrity ship departing from Florida will no longer have to show proof of a COVID vaccine.

According to USA Today, Celebrity Cruises has adjusted its COVID vaccination requirement for cruises departing from the Sunshine State. Instead, it will be at the passenger’s discretion to let the cruise line know if they have been vaccinated.
Originally, those booking a Celebrity cruise were asked for their vaccination status during the booking process, however, beginning July 1 that mandate goes against a Florida state law banning businesses from requiring proof of vaccination.

Instead, Celebrity notes, “Guests over 16 years old (over 12 for any sailing on or after August 1st) who decline or are unable to show proof of vaccination at boarding will be treated as unvaccinated and subject to additional protocols, restrictions, and costs for COVID-19 testing.”

In addition, unvaccinated passengers will have to pay out-of-pocket for the antigen tests, which USA Today reports come with a price tag of $178.
