Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line are both implementing a stricter mask mandate on board their vessels as COVID-19 cases continue to climb due to the omicron variant.

In a memo to passengers, Royal Caribbean revealed they would be tightening their face mask requirement through January 5, 2022.

“With the recent uptick of COVID-19 in the world and added omicron variant concerns, we feel it prudent to temporarily tighten our onboard health protocols to require masks indoors at all times unless actively eating and drinking,” Royal Caribbean told passengers. “This new update also applies to vaccinated areas and venues.”

Similarly, Norwegian Cruise Lines are also strengthening their mask mandates, requiring masks to be worn inside except when actively eating and drinking – and outside when social distancing isn’t possible.
