After a two-year travel ban, cruise ships are finally returning to Canada!

Holland America’s Koningsdam ship will be the first major cruise vessel to dock in Canada since the coronavirus pandemic began when it pulls into Victoria.
“We’ve worked a long time to make this day happen, and we are delighted to be back,” Kelly Craighead, President and CEO of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) said in a statement.

According to USA Today, prior to 2020, the cruise industry boosted Canada’s economy by more than $4 million annually and provided employment for 30,000 Canadians.

“We are thrilled to be the first cruise line back into Canada after such a long absence, and we look forward to celebrating a great moment for everyone who loves to travel and for those in Canada and Alaska whose livelihoods depend on tourism,” Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line, said in a statement reported by USA Today.
