Greece Will Place Limits on Visitors to The Acropolis

Greece is limiting the number of daily visitors to The Acropolis.
Due to the high number of visitors flocking to visit the ancient site, the Greek government has announced it will curb the numbers to ease congestion and ensure lines move quickly.
According to Travel Awaits, the new measures could include a time-slot system, electronic ticketing, and fast-lane entry points for organized tour groups.
The number of tourists visiting The Acropolis has rebounded post-Covid, with the Greek Ministry of Tourism reporting that the site often sees upwards of 14,000 visitors daily.
Travel Awaits reports the new measures will go into effect by the end of the month.
“The measures will be fully enforced by the end of the month,” said Lina Mendoni, Greece’s cultural minister, in a statement reported by Travel Awaits. “I have also given instructions to find a way to be able to erect shades in places that are [not considered] sensitive. And at discrete points, we’ll make sure there is water outside the site.”
