It’s one of the most photographed airport terminals in the world and it’s about to get a luxurious makeover to send it in a new direction.
The Trans World Airlines Flight Center at JFK International Airport has been one of the most recognized terminals since it was built. The iconic, 1960’s modern architecture, was designed by Eero Saarinen in 1962.

However, it has sat abandoned since TWA went out of business in 2001, but thanks to MCR Development the building is about to get a makeover as a luxury hotel.

The development company plans to restore the building to its former glory, adding 505 hotel rooms.

“The passion for this incredible building and the outpouring of support for our plan to preserve Saarinen’s masterpiece and permanently reopen it to the public as a 500-room hotel has been astounding,” MCR Development’s Tyler Morse said in a statement.

MCR Development hope to open the hotel to guests in 2019.
