JetBlue has become the first major U.S airline requiring all passengers to wear a face mask.

Beginning May 4, all passengers flying with JetBlue must wear a face mask, or face covering of some sort and we could see more airlines following suit.
JetBlue announced they decided to implement the face mask rule based on advice from the CDC, which now encourages all individuals to wear non-surgical face masks when outside of the home to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

“Wearing a face covering isn’t about protecting yourself it’s about protecting those around you,” Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement announcing the change. “This is the new flying etiquette. Onboard, cabin air is well circulated and cleaned through filters every few minutes but this is a shared space where we have to be considerate of others. We are also asking our customers to follow these CDC guidelines in the airport as well.”

All JetBlue passengers will be required to wear a face mask during check-in, boarding, disembarking and whilst on the plane. The airline will have a limited number of extra masks on hand for passengers without a face covering.

Last week Canada announced all air passengers must wear a face-covering of some sort at airports and on planes.
