Residents of Los Angeles may see their stay-at-home order extended through August, People reports.

According to the news outlet, the county’s Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer warned a “dramatic change to the virus and tools that we have at hand to actually fight” the coronavirus would need to be in place before any lockdown rules could be lifted, adding, the order will “with all certainty” be extended for the next three months.

“I do think recovery will be months long, based on the tools that we have at hand today,” People reports Ferrer as saying during a Board of Supervisors meeting.

According to People, Los Angeles County continues to see a spike in COVID-19 related cases and deaths. As of Wednesday morning, the county has had a total of 33,180 cases and 1,613 deaths.
