If all goes according to plan, travelers could soon take a high-speed train from Paris, France to Madrid, Spain.

According to EuroNews, the new train could link the two cities by the end of 2024 via high-speed Frecciarossa trains.

The modern, high-speed Frecciasossa (Red Arrow) trains can reach speeds up to 249 mph.

The service will be run by Italy’s national state-owned railway, Trenitalia, which currently offers high-speed train services between Paris and Milan, and Barcelona, Zaragoza and Madrid.

If approved, the train will be the first direct service between Paris and Madrid. Current service by operators requires a stop in Barcelona.
