New York City Museums Will Reopen This Month

New York City’s famous museums will be allowed to open once again to the public on August 24 as the city moves into phase four of its reopening plan.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that museums, together with other “low-risk indoor cultural venues” such as bowling alleys and gyms can reopen on August 24 after being closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Although we have been able to enjoy many of NYC’s museums virtually, visitors can now experience them in person – with a few restrictions.

According to Travel+Leisure, museums, aquariums and other similar venues will be allowed to reopen at 25 percent occupancy capacity. Guests will need to wear masks and socially distance, plus the facilities must adopt recommended sanitation guidelines.
However, Travel+Leisure reports not all of NYC’s museums will reopen on the same day. The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) announced they will reopen on August 27. The American Museum of Natural History plans to open its doors to the public on September 7 and The Metropolitan Museum of Art of Fifth Avenue will reopen to all members of the public on August 29.
