Royal Caribbean Opens $250 Million Private Tropical Island

After undergoing an extensive $250 million transformation, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas has re-opened to offer an array of amazing experiences for cruise customers.
The once sleepy island of CocoCay, which offered little more than a beach and the chance to soak up the sun, now offers Royal Caribbean passengers the chance to enjoy a state-of-the-art water park, five complimentary dining experiences, and a 450 foot high helium balloon on the newly renamed “Perfect Day at CocoCay” private island.

With something for everyone, your “Perfect Day at CocoCay” may include experiencing the adrenaline and adventures of CocoCay’s Thrill Waterpark, which includes America’s tallest water slide coming in at a stomach-churning 135 feet high. The island also houses the Caribbean’s largest wave pool and a 1,600 ft. long zip line.

Or maybe taking a dip in the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean – complete with swim-up bar and private cabanas – sounds like your perfect day?
Of course, you always have the beach and “Perfect Day at CocoCay” has made sure to keep quiet sandy beaches for those looking to enjoy the sparkling turquoise waters of the Bahamas.

Perfect Day at CocoCay had its grand opening over the weekend and while the island is now open to Royal Caribbean cruise passengers there is one area of CocoCay that won’t open until December. Hopefully, by the end of the year, the Coco Beach Club will be open and it looks like it will be pretty amazing. Featuring the Bahamas first over-the-water cabanas – each with its own water slide into the water below – the Coco Beach Club will also tempt visitors with a beachfront infinity pool, deck area, and club.
