Summer is the peak tourist season, with visitors flocking worldwide to indulge in the city’s vibrant atmosphere. From packed restaurants to crowded city attractions, summer is not the time to visit Rome if you don’t like to battle hoards of tourists. Instead, we love Rome in springtime and highly recommend booking your travels from March to early May.
Spring is considered the shoulder season, meaning fewer crowds and more affordable accommodations and attractions than the peak summer months.
Along with gorgeous temperatures ranging from 59 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit, one of the highlights of spring in Rome is Easter, particularly the week leading up to Easter Sunday. Visitors can witness the breathtaking Papal Mass at St. Peter’s Square and experience the religious traditions that permeate the city during this sacred time.
