If you’re one of the lucky ones who isn’t tied down to a particular location for work, or school and fancy living the life of a nomad for 10 months, Airbnb’s latest program could be the change you’ve been looking for.
As part of its “Live Anywhere on Airbnb” program, the vacation rental company is seeking 12 people to live remotely in its short-term rentals – and best of all Airbnb will cover the cost of accommodations and provide a transportation allowance.
“From young families to remote workers, creatives, empty nesters, and more, we are seeking a diverse set of 12 individuals who can be part of the program for 12 consecutive months from July 2021 to July 2022,” the vacation rental company announced. “Airbnb will assist with listing suggestions, local Experiences and more.”
“Whether it’s joining Zoom meetings by the beach, taking family on the ultimate road trip, or learning a new language in a favorite city–participants can make the world their home,” Airbnb revealed on its website.
If picked to participate in the “Live Anywhere on Airbnb” program, the nomadic travelers will have to share their experiences with Airbnb “to help inform future product upgrades and innovations on the platform to better accommodate nomadic living.”
“The number one thing people miss is travel,” Chris Lehane, head of policy and communications at Airbnb, told USA Today. “People are really looking to live their lives on a platform like Airbnb, where they’re able to spend time in different parts of world and different communities.”
According to Airbnb, 11 percent of long-term bookers on the rental platform in 2021 reported living a nomadic lifestyle and a whopping 74 percent of consumers Airbnb surveyed said they would be interested in living someplace other than where their employer is based once the pandemic is over.
Interested nomads have until the end of the month to apply by visiting www.airbnb.com/liveanywhere. Applicants must be 18 years of age and older and each participant can bring up to three companions to be part of the program.
