With travel a complete bust for most of 2020, Americans are more anxious than ever to get their suitcases packed and jet off on vacation.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, while most of our travel was domestic in 2020, Americans are looking to travel overseas for their 2021 vacations with firm favorites London and Paris among the top three most searched for destinations.
U.K.-based travel company Skyscanner recently announced the top ten most-searched-for destinations for 2021 and revealed travel research for next year is steadily growing month by month.
“2021 looks like it’s going to be a bumper year for travel, with so many Americans desperate to get out and explore the world again. Some are reorganizing a ‘missed’ trip, some are using unspent funds and vacation days to upgrade to bucket-list getaways, and some are embracing Americana, using internal flights to discover a variety of hidden gems on U.S. soil. What we can see from our data is growing search and booking numbers, and more even split between domestic and international destinations in July and August 2021,” said Mark Crossey, US Traveler Expert at Skyscanner in a statement reported by AJC.
According to Skycanner, the top ten most searched for travel destinations for 2021 are:
1.London
2.New York
3.Paris
4.Tokyo
5.Rome
6.Honolulu
7.Los Angeles
8.Papeete, French Polynesia
9.Orlando, Florida
10.Athens, Greece
