Despite being down 11 percent on visitor numbers compared to last year (thanks to COVID), Yellowstone National Park has set a record for September visitors.

According to CNN, a record 837,499 people visited Yellowstone National Park in September – an increase of 21 percent over September 2019 – with tourists flocking to experience everything the majestic park has to offer.
Overall visitor numbers to the park are down over last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Yellowstone was forced to close on March 24 because of COVID-19 precautions. Two Wyoming entrances reopened on May 18 and three Montana entrances opened June 1.

Other parks, including Grand Teton and Grand Canyon national parks, were also closed due to the pandemic.
