Bali Unveils New Visa Aimed at Wealthy “Second Home” Owners

Bali has long been the playground for affluent tourists looking to bask on its exotic beaches, but now, thanks to a new visa, the wealthy can legally stay for up to ten years.

According to Business Insider, Indonesia has launched a new “second home” visa, which will allow foreigners to stay for five or ten years – but they must have enough money in the bank to qualify.
Business Insider reports applicants must bring at least two billion Indonesian rupiahs (approximately $130,000), and the money must be deposited in Indonesian-state-owned banks.

According to a press release from the Indonesian government, the goal of the new “second home” visa is to “attract foreign tourists to Bali and various other destinations” whilst contributing “positively to the Indonesian economy.”
