If you have ever taken a Carnival cruise in the past, no doubt you would have sailed on either its Fascination or Imagination vessels, but sadly, the cruise line has confirmed both iconic ships have been sold.
Carnival launched their Fascination ship in 1994 and followed up with the Imagination in 1995. Up until now, the two ships had been placed on long-term lay-up status and removed from published itineraries, TravelPulse reports.
However, Carnival confirmed they have now sold the two vessels, a move which allows the company to “accelerate the removal of less-efficient ships from its fleet during the coronavirus pandemic,” TravelPulse reveals.
“While we are sad to see Carnival Fascination and Carnival Imagination leave our fleet, it is a necessary move as it allows us to focus on ships that offer the greatest variety of features and stateroom accommodations for our guests,” Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said in a statement reported by TravelPulse.
“As we continue to work through issues related to our eventual return to operations, we are committed to providing our guests and travel agent partners with certainty where we can, although we regret disappointing our guests. We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our guests and hope to welcome them back on board soon,” Duffy added.
