CDC Lowers Cruise Travel Warning to a Level 3

As COVID-19 cases continue to drop, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have lowered their cruise travel warning from “Very High” to “High.”

The change comes seven weeks after the CDC raised its travel warning for cruise ships to a Level 4 – the highest warning – due to the omicron variant.

The CDC now places cruise ship travel at a Level 3 and is warning individuals who aren’t up to date on their COVID vaccines to “avoid cruise ship travel.”

“The decision by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to lower the Travel Health Notice threat level for cruise ships is a step in the right direction and recognizes the leadership and effectiveness of the cruise sector’s health and safety protocols that are unmatched by virtually any other commercial setting,” the Cruise Lines International Association said in a statement following the CDC’s revision.
