The busiest cruise port on earth is adding a new cruise line!
Celebrity Cruises will call Port Canaveral its homeport in 2024, becoming the seventh major cruise line to do so.
Celebrity announced Tuesday that its Celebrity Equinox ship will sail from Port Canaveral for the Caribbean on Dec. 3, 2024.
Celebrity Equinox will offer 20 new seven-night itineraries, including stops in the Bahamas, Belize, Grand Cayman, Mexico, San Juan, and St. Maarten through April 19, 2025.
The Celebrity Equinox accommodates 2,850 passengers. It underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2019, including adding new restaurants, bars, and lounges. The ship also features a spa, fitness center, casino, and several swimming pools.
Port Canaveral is the busiest cruise port in the world, handling more than 4.9 million cruise passengers in 2021. It is the homeport for cruise ships from several major companies, such as Disney, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian. The port is located on the east coast of Florida, about 45 miles south of Orlando. It is a major economic engine for the region, generating billions of dollars in economic activity each year. The port is also a popular tourist destination, with visitors coming from all over the world to experience the excitement of cruising.
Celebrity already offers sailings out of Florida’s Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.
