If you have always wanted to live out childhood dreams of being an astronaut, a Houston-based company will soon be offering the space experience with the opening of the first luxury Space hotel.
Of course the experience comes with a hefty price tag. Orion Span’s ‘Aurora Station’ will cost vacationers seeking a zero-gravity astronaut experience $9.5 million for a 12-day stay.
The compact Aurora Station, its interior measuring just 35 ft by 14 ft – can accommodate four guests and two crew members and will be located some 200 miles above the earth. The company hope to have the luxury space hotel launched by 2021 and open to guests the following year. The company are now accepting waitlist reservations with an $80,000 deposit.
Before heading into space, guests will undergo a three-month certification program, including a stint at Orion Span’s state-of-the-art training facility in Houston. And once back on planet earth the intrepid travelers will receive a space heroes welcome.
Founding entrepreneur Frank Bunger revealed in an official press release, “We developed Aurora Station to provide a turnkey destination in space. Upon launch, Aurora Station goes into service immediately, bringing travelers into space quicker and at a lower price point that ever seen before.”
While in space Aurora Station guests will experience stunning views of the earth, with the station orbiting earth every 90 minutes, giving guests an average of 16 sunsets and sunrises every 24 hours.
“Our goal is to make space accessible to all, by continuing to drive greater value at lower cost,” Bunger said.
