Dollywood is set to become a whole lot bigger thanks to a $37 million expansion.
The Great Smoky Mountain theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, will soon feature a new nature-themed section of the park called Wildwood Grove.
Set to open sometime in 2019, Wildwood Grove will feature eleven new experiences, including six new ride attractions such as the new suspended roller coaster. Centered around a 55-foot Wildwood Tree, families will love Wildwood Creek with its splash pool and pop jets and should inclement weather arise Wildwood Grove will feature a 4,000 square foot, climate-controlled, indoor play area.
“We have continued to expand and develop Dollywood over the last several years, but Wildwood Grove is the first expansion of the park’s footprint since we added Wilderness Pass in 2008,” Dollywood Company president Craig Ross said in a statement.
“I’ve told you before about how I’d let my imagination roam free when I’d be out exploring in the hills around our home in the Smoky Mountains,” country music star Dolly Parton said in a statement to the press. “I’d pretend that the frogs and butterflies were my friends. I’d imagine what it’d be like to fly with a dragonfly or follow a bear family through the woods. Now all those things are coming true for our guests to experience in Wildwood Grove; it may be my new favorite part of Dollywood.”
