Greyhound Bus is looking to reunite families in 2020, by focusing on young people who have run away from home.

Known as the ‘Home Free’ program, each year Greyhound Buses partners with the National Runaway Safeline to offer hundreds to tickets to runaway youth looking to return home.
Since the program began in 1995, more than 15,000 young people have been reunited with their families.

According to CNN, “To get a free ticket home, a person between the ages of 12 and 21 must call the NRS helpline (1-800-RUNAWAY). They also must be named on a runaway report and be willing to return to their family. The family or guardian also needs to agree to receive them at home.”

If the individual hoping to return home is under the age of 15, Home Free also provides a free ticket for the child’s parent or guardian, CNN reports.

The NRS estimates more than 1.5 million children and adolescents run away from home each year.
