It’s known as the ‘City of Love’ and the ‘City of Lights’ – and now Paris can add ‘Top City Destination’ to its long list of accolades.
The French capital has been named the Top City Destination for 2022 by market research company Euromonitor for the second year in a row.
According to CNN, Euromonitor’s annual report compares the attractiveness of 100 global cities across six different categories, including health and safety, tourism policy and performance, and infrastructure.
This year’s list saw European cities snag 8 out of the 10 top spots, but it was Paris that came in at number one.
“2022 marks a period of strong recovery for travel and tourism,” Euromonitor revealed in its report. “Cities around the globe have benefitted from travelers eager to once again embark on domestic and international leisure trips, whether to visit family and friends after years of separation or to partake in revenge travel, making up for missed trips during the pandemic.”
“Paris accelerates to once again claim the title of the world’s top city in 2022, closely followed by Dubai, which retains its second position,” Euromonitor said in a press release. “The top 10 rankings see the hegemony of European destinations, with only Dubai and New York challenging the status quo this year.”
According to Euromonitor, these are the Top Ten City Destinations for 2022:
1. Paris
2. Dubai
3. Amsterdam
4. Madrid
5. Rome
6. London
7. Munich
8. Berlin
9. Barcelona
10. New York City
