Princess Cruises is gearing up to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III in a very British way!
The cruise line just revealed its coronation details for UK-based ships, the Sky Princess and Regal Princess, with various activities to help guests celebrate the historic occasion.
Aboard both ships on 6 May, live coverage of ‘The Coronation Service at Westminster’ and ‘The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle’ will be shown on the 300-square-foot ‘Movies Under the Stars’ jumbotron and ‘The Biggest Street Party’ will be replicated on the top deck.
A ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’ will be served on both ships, with British favorites such as Victoria sponge cake. Pimms and strawberries will be served on the top deck, and favorite British fares such as fish and chips, sausage rolls, and trifles will be available in World Fresh Marketplace.
Talks from guest speaker Grant Harrold, former butler of the King, will take place onboard Regal Princess between 3 and 5 May and on Sky Princess between 6 and 13 May. Harrold is a former British Royal Household member, leading etiquette expert, royal commentator, and broadcaster.
In addition, the Piazza on both ships will be decorated for the occasion using banners and buntings in Royal colors, and guests will be encouraged to wear Royal red, white and blue for a special dress-up night.
Regal Princess will call to Holyhead in Wales on 6 May as part of the ship’s itinerary around the British Isles, meaning guests get to experience the historical moment in a part of the UK with strong ties with the King.
On Sky Princess, an exclusive array of Coronation-themed entertainment will take place, including a special ‘Royal Variety Show’– featuring a tribute to Elton John – performed in the Princess Theatre and ‘Royal Trivia’ in Princess Live!
