The Dominican Republic Eliminates Mandatory COVID Tests for Tourists

As part of a new tourism recovery plan, the Dominican Republic will no longer require tourists to present a negative coronavirus test in order to visit the Caribbean nation.

According to Travel+Leisure, beginning September 15 several policy changes, including the elimination of a mandatory COVID test, will go into effect as part of the country’s “Responsible Tourism Recovery Plan.”
Additionally, to instill confidence in would-be visitors, the country will now offer to all tourists visiting a hotel, a “temporary, free travel assistance plan until December 2020. In addition to general emergency coverage, the free insurance plan covers COVID-19 testing, as well as cost coverage for long-term stays should a traveler fall ill or need to quarantine,” Travel+Leisure reports.
