It’s official! The United Arab Emirates is ranked as the world’s number one passport due to the amount countries UAE passport holders can visit visa-free.
According to the latest publication of the Passport Index, a global passport ranking by Montreal-based firm Arton Capital, United Arab Emirates has beaten Sweden, Finland, and Germany as the world’s number one passport.
According to CNBC, UAE passport holders can enter 121 countries without a visa and get a visa upon arrival in a further 59 states.
This means that UAE passport holders can visit 91 percent of the world’s countries without applying for a visa before traveling. Comparatively, United States passport holders can visit approximately 83 percent of the world’s countries, CNBC reports.
“What sets the UAE passport apart in particular is its ability for holders to enter countries with a visa on arrival,” Armand Arton, president and CEO of Arton Capital, told CNBC. “Whilst the passport’s power to enter countries visa free is comparable to its competitors, those with a UAE passport can enter 13 more countries with a visa on arrival than those with a German passport, the second ranked passport.”
According to Arton Capital, these are the World’s Most Powerful Passports:
1. United Arab Emirates
2. Germany
3. Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Spain, France, Italy
4. Netherlands
5. Switzerland
Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, and Somalia had the weakest passports.
