White House Plans to Resume Public Tours in September

After a six-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the White House is set to allow the general public to participate in one of its famous tours beginning in September.

According to an announcement from the White House, “The Office of the First Lady is pleased to announce that the White House Visitors Office will resume public tours on Saturday, September 12, 2020.”
However, there will be some restrictions as the country continues to battle the virus, including reduced capacity, social distancing markers, and a mandatory mask requirement.

Tours will now take place only two times per week, compared to five, on Friday’s and Saturday’s from 8:00 am to 11:00 AM. The number of guests will also be limited to 18 percent of normal capacity.

Along with a mask requirement, social distancing dots will be placed on the ground for guests during the check-in process and all office staff working the tour route will wear face coverings, gloves, and encourage social distancing with communicating with guests. The White House will also have hand sanitizer available in multiple locations.
