Top Trending Travel Destinations for Summer 2021

As vaccinations roll out, Americans across the country are wiping the dust off their suitcases and planning that much-longed-for getaway they have been putting on hold since the coronavirus pandemic broke out in March 2020.

Not surprisingly, beach and outdoor locations are topping the list of preferred tourist spots this summer, with TripAdvisor revealing its top ten most popular summer destinations for 2021.

“This summer, we continue to see travelers favor outdoor locations like beaches or national parks, locations that continue to enable the practice of social distancing,” Tripadvisor spokesperson Brian Hoyt, said in a statement reported by Insider.
TripAdvisor found that while beach locations in Mexico and the Dominican Republic made the list, the majority of Americans (74%) are planning on staying within the United States this summer and TripAdvisor reposts domestic hotel searches are up by 65%.

TripAdvisor also found that more Americans plan on packing up the car, with 43% driving to their vacation spot, whilst only 19 percent say they are willing to fly.
According to TripAdvisor, these are the Top Ten Destinations for Summer 2021:

2. Orlando, Florida
3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
4. Key West, Florida
5. Miami Beach, Florida
6. Las Vegas, Nevada
7. Playa del Carmen, México
8. Cabo San Lucas, México
9. Tulum, Mexico
10. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
