After nearly two years, Australia will finally reopen to visa holders and international tourists beginning February 21 – but they must be fully vaccinated.

The country first closed its borders back in March 2020, implementing some of the strictest border controls in the world as the coronavirus pandemic swept across the globe.
“If you’re double vaccinated, we look forward to welcoming you back,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a statement.

For those who aren’t fully vaccinated due to medical reasons, the BBC reports unvaccinated travelers will need to apply for a travel exemption and, if successful, will need to quarantine at a hotel upon arrival in the country.

According to USA Today, visitors to Australia could have to contend with different restrictions if they choose to travel around the country. Western Australia still has strict restrictions in place and currently only allows 265 international arrivals a week and requires a 14-day quarantine period.
