Bed Bugs Cause Havoc at Honolulu Airport

Hawaii’s largest airport had come unwelcome guests last week – bed bugs!
According to USA Today, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport was forced to close some gates after the Department of Transportation received reports of bed bugs in the E Gates of Terminal 2.
Although the DOT did not state where the bed bugs came from, the sight of the unruly pests left DOT staff scrambling to clean the area and remove anything that might have attracted the nasty pests.
USA Today reports that three gates were shut down by the incident and remained closed overnight for additional cleaning by a pest control company.
Passengers traversing through the airport in Honolulu may encounter intermittent gate closures over the next few weeks as additional cleaning measures take place.
According to USA Today, bed bugs can travel for long periods of time inside the seams of bedding, clothing and luggage. Over 73,000 passengers arrive at Daniel K. Inouye Airport each day.
