Delta Air Lines is hoping to reassure travelers nervous about flying during a pandemic by extending its policy of blocking middle seats through March 2021.

The company’s middle seat ban was set to expire on January 6, however, the airline revealed they want their customers to have “complete confidence” when traveling with Delta during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We recognize some customers are still learning to live with this virus and desire extra space for their peace of mind,” Delta’s chief customer experience officer, Bill Lentsch, said in a statement. “We are listening and will always take the appropriate steps to ensure our customers have complete confidence in their travel with us.”

With the announcement, Delta is now the only U.S airline continuing to block middle seats well into 2021. Currently, Hawaiian Air’s policy runs through December 15, and Alaska will continue blocking middles seats through January 6. Southwest recently announced they will no longer block middle seats from December 1 and JetBlue announced plans to fill every seat starting January 8, 2021.

According to CNN, Delta announced a total of 550 people have been added to their no-fly list for refusing to wear a mask.
