South Africa is the latest country to relax some of its travel restrictions that were put in place during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to AFAR, the country is allowing vaccinated tourists to enter the country without having to provide a negative COVID-19 test result. Unvaccinated travelers may still visit but must provide a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival.

Earlier this month, South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the country would be lifting its outdoor mask mandate, however, masks must still be worn indoors and on public transportation.

South Africa was one of the hardest-hit countries in Africa, with AFAR reporting the country recorded more than 3.7 million COVID cases and nearly 100,000 deaths.
