The Iconic Orient Express Set to Return to Istanbul

The legendary Orient Express will once again return to Istanbul – its original destination when it first left Paris in 1884.

The luxury train will undergo a revamp for the new service that is set to launch in 2024, just in time for the Paris Summer Olympic Games.
The new service will see the Orient Express travel from Paris, France, to Istanbul, Turkey, courtesy of hotel group Accor.

The wood-paneled cars are being restored by some of France’s finest artisans, with the new ‘Nostalgie’ train featuring 12 sleeping cars, one restaurant car, three lounges, and one van adorned with Art Deco features such as Lalique panels.

“The rebirth of the Orient Express is a technological challenge,” architect Maxime d’Angeac said in a statement reported by BreakingTravelNews. “From the nuts and bolts stamped with Orient Express’ signature to the innovative concept of the suites, an exact science of detail will allow travelers to rediscover the great splendor of the Orient Express.”

“Entrusted to the best artisans and decorators specializing in their unique fields, this embassy of French luxury will unveil a setting of absolute refinement, faithful to the art of tailoring,” d’Angeac promised. “It will be an incomparable train travel experience, imagined through a contemporary vision of comfort and extreme luxury.”
