These Islands Have Reopened to Tourists – But Only If They’ve Had COVID-19!

Just off the coast of Brazil lays the beautiful archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, which is reopening to tourists once again – but with a catch!

According to CNN, Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha is home to one of the best beaches in the world, Bala do Sancho, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. Closed to tourists since mid-March, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the archipelago will begin reopening next week but only to travelers who have had the coronavirus.
“To land on the archipelago, the tourist will need to present the result of a positive PCR test that is at least 20 days old, or the result of the serological test showing the presence of antibodies against Covid,” its administrator, Guilherme Rocha, told a news conference on Thursday, CNN reports.

A PCR test detects whether someone has the virus and a serological test shows whether the body has developed antibodies against the coronavirus, CNN states.
