Kenyan President William Ruto announced that tourists heading to his country for a vacation will no longer need a visa in 2024.
Beginning in January, the Kenyan government will roll out a digital platform ensuring all visitors receive an electronic travel authorization in advance, instead of needing to apply for a visa, CNN reports.
“It shall no longer be necessary for any person from any corner of the globe to carry the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya,” President Ruto said in a speech. “Kenya has a simple message to humanity: Welcome Home!”
According to CNN, the tourism industry plays a vital role in Kenya’s economy, with travelers worldwide enjoying inland safari vacations or beach getaways along the country’s gorgeous Indian Ocean coastline.
