United Airlines has teamed up with the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City to start providing free round-trip flights for medical personnel needed to help work on the front lines during the coronavirus pandemic.

With New York City becoming the epicenter of the fight against COVID-19 in America, United Airlines will fly medical personnel from all over the country to NYC to provide much needed reinforcements to over-stretched hospital staff.

“Our healthcare workers are heroes, and they need reinforcements,” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement. “This generous partnership with United Airlines will ensure medical professionals from across the country can come to New York City to help us in our hour of need.”

The airline is also working closely with local government agencies to help enlist volunteers and bring them to the hospitals where they are needed most.
