Although we most associate Jimmy Buffett with sun, sand, beaches, and Margarita’s in Paradise, the prolific traveler and singer still has one place on his bucket list he hasn’t visited – Antarctica.
And 150 lucky travelers could scratch the mysterious continent off their bucket list too as they cruise the southern seas with Jimmy Buffett himself!
The One Particular Harbor singer is donating his time to help raise funds and awareness for ocean conservation in collaboration with Insider Expeditions, a premier travel company, and Omaze, an online fundraising platform.
Adventure to Antarctica with Performances by Jimmy Buffett will feature Buffett and members of the Coral Reefer band in a concert expedition aboard the World Navigator cruise ship to the southernmost seas in December 2022.
The group of 150 – including one lucky winner and their guest – will meet in Buenos Aires, Argentina before flying to Ushuaia where they will board the World Navigator and set sail for Antarctica and the South Shetland Islands.
Buffett will perform several concerts during the trip, including one on the continent of Antarctica itself.
“The voyage will support and bring awareness to the important work and mission of several organizations who protect the world’s Oceans and its inhabitants,” a press release on Jimmy Buffett’s website reads. “Ocean Conservancy, who are dedicated to building ocean health and resilience as well as advancing science-based solutions to protect the ocean from today’s greatest global challenges; and, Singing for Change, a non-profit launched by Jimmy in 1995, will direct their funds to Save the Manatee Club and The Everglades Foundation.”
The expedition will be 100 percent carbon offset and will take place from December 1 through December 14, 2022.
The contest runs through June 18, 2022, and the winner will be announced around July 6, 2022.
