Cambodia Requiring Tourists to Pay a $3,000 Coronavirus Deposit

Cambodia is open once more to tourists, but anyone planning on visiting the country will be required to pay a $3,000 ‘Coronavirus Deposit.’
According to Insider, Cambodia has suffered very few coronavirus cases – 128 COVID-19 cases and zero deaths at the time of writing – and they hope to keep those numbers low by requiring tourists to not only pay a deposit but also undergo a mandatory coronavirus test upon arrival and provide proof of travel insurance for at least $50,000.

Insider reports the $3,000 deposit will be used to cover any COVID-19 related costs a traveler may accrue while in the country. If their coronavirus test upon arrival comes back negative, the incoming tourist will be reimbursed their deposit, minus the cost of the test (approximately $165).
