Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have embarked on a first-ever royal tour of Cuba by a British royal.
The controversial visit to the country, which came under Communist rule in 1959, is part of the royal couple’s 12-day tour of the Caribbean.

After an official welcome, Prince Charles and Camilla participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial of Cuba’s national hero, José Martí.
According to People, the couple will tour Havana with the city’s official historian before meeting with some of the country’s young entrepeneurs.

Naturally, a visit to Havana isn’t complete without stepping back in time and exploring the country’s classic cars, with the royal couple meeting with owners of classic British made automobiles. From there Charles and Camilla will, according to People, take in Cuba’s vibrant music and dance scene, before Charles – an avid horticulturalist – travels outside of Havana to learn about Cuba’s participation in organic farming and renewable energy.

Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and St. Kitts and Nevis have also featured on the royal tour of the Caribbean.
