The Centers for Disease Control has issued a travel advisory for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut urging residents to avoid out-of-state travel for the next 14 days.

New York, in particular New York City, has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The advisory comes after Florida, Texas, Maryland and South Carolina ordered people arriving to their states from the tri-state area to self-quarantine for 14 days.
The advisory from the CDC, which was issued late Saturday night, urges residents of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to avoid all non-essential domestic travel for the next 14 days.

“This Domestic Travel Advisory does not apply to employees of critical infrastructure industries, including but not limited to trucking, public health professionals, financial services, and food supply,” the CDC announced in a statement. “These employees of critical infrastructure, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedule. The Governors of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will have full discretion to implement this Domestic Travel Advisory.”
