The Rockefeller Christmas Tree is Ready for its New Home!

The annual tradition of picking a Norwegian Spruce to grace New York City’s Rockefeller Center has been accomplished.

Construction workers first erected a Christmas tree in the middle of the center plaza block back in 1931 during the Great Depression, and every year since one has been placed and decorated in true holiday spirit.

This year’s tree is coming from the backyard of Angie and Greg Eichler’s home in Oneonta, in upstate New York.

The magnificent, towering spruce will be cut down on November 10th and erected in Rockefeller Center on November 12th before being adorned with 50,000 multi-colored lights and crowned with a Swarovski star.

The 84th annual tree lighting will take place on November 30th and the event is free and open to the public.
