US Tourist Rescued After Falling into Crater of Mount Vesuvius

An American tourist has been rescued after falling into the crater of Italy’s Mount Vesuvius.

The tourist and family members reportedly veered off the authorized path around the volcano to get closer to the crater to take a selfie.
According to the Associated Press, the tourist slipped into the volcano’s crater after trying to recover his fallen cell phone.

Four volcano guides lowered a rope 50 feet into the crater to help pull the tourist to safety.
