For the first time in the event’s history, Puerto Rico will be included in this year’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest – and Reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee will be on hand to perform during the special occasion.
Along with the usual festive celebrations in New York City, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will head south to La Isla del Encanto (better known as the Island of Enchantment) in Puerto Rico, where the city of San Juan is already gearing up to celebrate its 500th anniversary in true Latin style!
“The special bolsters Puerto Rico’s own monumental year as the capital city of San Juan celebrates its 500th anniversary and continues its world-renowned spirited holiday season; a time of year that vividly reflects the Island’s vibrant culture, food, dance, and music through local festivals and celebrations,” ABC said in a statement.
Ryan Seacrest will once again be on hand to officiate the long-running special, together with Ciara, Billy Porter, Roselyn Sanchez, and Liza Koshy.
Performers this year include Avril Lavigne, who will team up with Travis Barker for a special performance of “Sk8er Boi” and her newest single “Bite Me.” Big Boi, French Montana, OneRepublic, Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Don Omar, and Walker Hayes are just a few of the other performers set to help viewers ring in 2022.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest will air on ABC on Friday, December 31st at 8 p.m.
